SWDCARC participates in the annual ARRL Field Day, held the fourth full weekend in June each year. Field Day is a great opportunity to catch up with friends and get points for the Club via contacts. Visitors are always welcomed at Field Day!
The usual plan is to have breakfast at Acapulco’s Mexican Restaurant in DeSoto at 7:00am that day, then go to the Field Day location to begin setup of antennas about 8:00am. Field Day operations legally begin at 1:00pm. All are invited to participate in any or all three of the events: breakfast, antenna setup, and making contacts. We will be operating as 2A with Single Side Band (voice), CW, and Digital transmitters. We need operators to keep these three stations operational from 1:00pm Saturday to at least 10:00am Sunday. We usually are too tired to operate beyond 10:00am, as we have about another hour to take down antennas and pack up radios and equipment and clean up the facility.

The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) promotes and governs many Amateur Radio events. To learn about these contests go to http://www.arrl.org/contest-calendar. The calendar will note the date and name of the ARRL-sanctioned event. You can then click on the contest that interests you to learn more information about the event, as well as the rules requirements for that particular contest. Happy contesting!
