Bike MS: Round-Up Ride is heading SOUTH in 2024 to explore more of the amazing Texas countryside.
Radio operators from DFW have been supporting communications for this event for more than 20 years. The communications support relates to supporting the logistics behind the event, as well as health and safety of the volunteers, staff, and riders.
This is a two-day event, typically requiring 50+ radio operators each day. Volunteers are not required to work both days, but typically, returning volunteers find the experience to be challenging and enjoyable, and most DO work both days.
Assignments are varied, with stationary assignments such as rest stops, to mobile operations in SAG vehicles, tour official and logistics vehicles (Shadows). As this is an outdoor functions covering over 150 miles over two days, we also monitor the weather an report conditions as necessary through our communications network.
We operate under an R.A.C.E.S./A.R.E.S. Net structure, via multiple radio Nets. We typically have a Tactical, Resource, and SAG net simultaneously.
